[This afternoon finds one CHEERFUL(?) Itachi walking out of the grocery, a bright SMILE(?) on his face and a full bag in his arms. He's HUMMING(??) something under his breath, a light bounce to his step.
He pulls out his journal casually, sending an unfiltered message to his brother.]
Sasuke. Are you recovering well?
[All of this is, of course, completely out of character for the ninja and possibly disturbing to anyone familiar with him.]

..well. It's a small village. Katara couldn't hope to avoid him forever, and despite the horror of the story Shikamaru had told her, Itachi hadn't hurt anyone since he'd been here, meaning she could probably proceed.
And, quite uncharacteristically for her, instead of an instant overpowering righteous rage to temper her fear and demand a confrontation she feels more - indifferent? - towards the fact that she is about to have to walk right by him or run away.]
[ action ]
Hello, Katara-san. I haven't seen you in person for some time.
[ action ]
How does she get out of this?
...okay, lying works.]
I'm sorry, do I know you?
[ action ]
[He bows his head slightly.] I am Uchiha Itachi.
[ action ]
It's hard to credence Shikamaru's words when faced with this. But he wouldn't lie to her...]
Oh. You're much bigger. Have you been doing well?

Hello! Isn't it such a lovely day?

[Itachi smiles right back.]
I don't think I'll keep myself cooped up at home this afternoon.

He though he would never see the day.
Don't mind him, Itachi. He's just going to STAAAARE. From up here on this roof.
And shiver slightly.
Hell just froze over, didn't it?]

He might even stop by with dinner later.]
no subject
There is no suspicion of any dinner plans being plotted, not at all.
Actually no suspicion of anything as he watches from his rooftop, pleasant and smiling right back. No danger possibly coming at him, no looking underneath the underneath. Just a pleasant unconcernedness (and maybe a little bit of lingering lethargy... he slept beyond his norm today), and while things are just bizarre, nothing is provoking his threat sense.
All in all he's in a remarkably trusting mood.]

There's steamed rice, soup, and cabbage rolls.
If Law doesn't come out himself, the ninja will bring it to his door.
With a bright smile.]

Blink. Blink.
That table looks like it's set up for two.]
Itachi?
[No Mister. Yes, he's a little surprised.]

[Voice | Filtered]
He is surprised to hear Itachi's voice over the journal, though. It's a pleasant surprise even, if it wasn't for the nagging feeling that something is off. Itachi hadn't even put up a filter? Sasuke will be fixing that.]
I'll live.
[Voice | Filtered]
[He sounds far too pleasant as he says this, and the tone of his voice doesn't change as he goes on.]
I'll bring something by for you later. I picked up fresh tomatoes and everything.
[Voice | Filtered]
[While the promise of tomatoes and a visit isn't unpleasant or anything, there was most definitely something very, very off. There is a small pause before he continues.]
Any particular reason you're in such a good mood?
[Voice | Filtered]
...He doesn't really need a reason, does he?]
It's a beautiful day outside, is all. Hardly a time to be gloomy.
[Voice | Filtered]
If you say so.
So I'll... see you later?
[Such a strange thing to say. Somehow it felt out of practice, or like it didn't belong to him in the first place.]

[He hasn't been on the journals at all lately - really, he threw his book aside for a long while - but after a few odd run-ins with people in street already he decided it was okay to skim it. But that ends up recorded with a curious tone as he passes this one.
Another ninja maybe?? No that's too quick to assume]
[voice]
[Goodness. Has he gone and made friends?]
[voice]
[With a nervous laugh. That recorded? Well. Too late now]
[voice]
He's not always the easiest to befriend.
