[Casual pace it is. Once they're in, Law for his part languidly gets dressed. Just drawing out the surprise. Not that it's a big thing he's going to give him. It's a very, very little thing, and no doubt the meaning of it will be lost on Itachi, as he's not too familiar with sailor customs and superstitions.

Finally dressed and just nudging the lockpicks he has hidden in the brim of his hat back into hiding, Law looks at the picnic basket that has been sitting beside where he's propped up his sword. He puts on his hat and goes to retrieve a tiny box from there, carefully holding it so what's inside doesn't rattle.]

[The ninja dresses silently, not even attempting to peek over (it wouldn't help much anyway) while Law fiddles around with things.

When finished, he goes about folding his towel and neatly packing away shower supplies.]

Hey...

[Hold still for a sec.

The words dies on his lips. Instead he opens the box, to reveal a plain silver ear cuff with a slightly brushed finish.

A sailor's earring. Protection and luck on the seas. Safe passage to the land of the dead. Emergency currency.

He hopes Itachi'll wear it.]

This is kinda a my world thing, a sailor's thing, but...

[It almost sounds like he's proposing to his ears. He's not, but it's a symbolically important thing he's giving. A you're a part of my world thing.]

I hope you like it.

[The ninja isn't sure what to make of it, at first. He reaches a hand out, cautiously at first, to take the edges of the box in his hand.

He's seen something like this before, of course, but it takes him a moment of feeling it between his fingers to realize what it is off the ear of someone.

He blinks, uncertain. Should he put it on? He's appreciative and the last thing he wants to do is look like he isn't, but he's never worn its like before.]

Need a little help with it?

[Law is starting to become uncertain too. Maybe he doesn't know what it is or how it goes on. Or maybe he doesn't care for earrings. He's not sure here.]

Ah...

Yes.

[He hands the box back to Law momentarily, then pulls his hair away from his ears so that they are completely exposed.]

[Thankfully silver is malleable, and Law pulls on the edges of the cuff so it can slip on and wrap around the cartilage of Itachi's upper ear a little better. He positions it on the left ear, and once it's oriented right, Law pinches the cuff together to create a snug but comfortable fit.

Good. That should stay put.

He draws back a little to admire the look of it (and really, his partner in general).]

[Itachi raises a hand to feel the new adornment with tentative fingers. It's not the most comfortable, as he isn't used to having anything on that part of his ear, and will take some getting used to, but that shouldn't be difficult.

It's a touching gift, if it's as much a part of Law's culture as he says it is, so he'll wear it.]

[In response, Law just presses his forehead to his partner's own. Smiles. Brushes his fingers with his own.
