For closed scenes that don't need their own post.

[The words are, again, somehow difficult to hear - it's not right, for Itachi to thank his murderer for anything. But seeing him smile makes things feel a bit better. Sasuke almost wants to smile back, but doesn't. He isn't in the habit enough. His voice brightens just a little, though.]

You're hard to come up with presents for. You... Hn.

My apologies. I'm not a very material person.

[Maybe if they spent enough time together, the things he enjoyed would become more apparent.]

[Rather than his brother being the type of person who has everything, it was more like he needed nothing. (Much like Sasuke himself, but as usual, Itachi probably beat him even in this.) Sasuke couldn't even prepare a shūgi bukuro, since this place had no money. It couldn't be helped, so he had tried to think of something that would be used, and wouldn't involve carrying or storage space. Sasuke sits down again.]

I couldn't not give you something.

[He could have, and Itachi honestly wouldn't have minded, but he understood Sasuke's reasoning. That didn't make it any more easy to accept gifts from him after everything that had happened between them.]

[Grateful? The guilt eating at him is coming to the surface rather suddenly. It's not even just the guilt, it's everything. It keeps wanting to spill, and Sasuke obviously isn't strong enough to contain it properly. (Something else you beat him at, Itachi.) Won't stop him from trying, though. He grits his teeth, there's a hiss to his tone.]

Don't. Don't say things like that. It's a stupid gift.

Not stupid enough that you didn't think it worth giving.

[He keeps his voice level.] It was thoughtful, and I won't hear otherwise.

[Pause. He gets up again, eyes hidden behind his bangs.] I'm glad you liked them.

[Sasuke will now be jumping off the roof and head to the forest to punch a tree until he feels better. Although he still receives IV every 24 hours, and should probably return to his bed rather than run around outside, he doesn't care.]

[Itachi lets him go.

They'll speak again soon enough.]
