It has come to my attention that several others from the world I originate from have arrived in Luceti. To them, if they are aware of who I am, I simply state my presence and assure that there is no need to consider me an adversary at this point in time. This is in the hopes of avoiding any unfortunate altercations in the future should we happen to run across each other.

[Things are chaotic enough as is.]

I am under close scrutiny [This is mostly true to a point.] and have been here for some time, so there is no cause for alarm.

Oh, nope. I mean that we're all from the same world, right? Roku is from about two hundred years before the time my grandparents and everyone is from. And I'm from out world about seventy years ahead of their time.

Uncle Roku was here in Luceti a long time before I was, so I think they had time to get used to knowing someone from a time in their world different from them!

I see. Still, that would make things complicated.

Kinda! I'm just happy they all believed me, although since I can airbend I guess they kiiiiiiiiinda had to. Um, back when my grandpa was a kid his entire people were wiped out, so airbenders like me either had to come from way way way before them or way after.

...It's probably weird for them, but if it is they never said.

Are elemental affinities something you're born with, or are they taught?

You're born with them, but you have to learn how to use them, so kinda both?

Ah... I was referring to affinities for a specific elemental type. Were you born with the ability to use only air?

Yep! There's the air nomads, the fire nation, the water tribes, and the earth kingdom. Airbenders come from my people, firebenders from the fire nation, waterbenders from the water tribes, and earthbenders from the earth kingdom.

...Well, that's how it works in grandpa's time, but we have multicultural families now! You only ever get one bending type, though.

How interesting. No one can use more than one element at all?

The Avatar can. That's the soul that's born into the world in a cycle! Into the air nomads, then the water tribes, then the earth kingdom, then the fire nation! He or she is responsible for keeping peace and balance in the world.

We've got three of those here, though. See, they're all reincarnated versions of one another! ...Well, I guess technically they're pre-incarnated, too, 'cause Roku was the fire nation avatar before grandpa was the air nomad avatar before Korra was the water tribe avatar.

...So would you say the three of them shared a soul?

[Is that even possible?]

Probably, yeah, but they're all different people at the same time, y'know?

Actually, the way it works is...hm, the CURRENT Avatar is guided by the one RIGHT before them in the Spirit World - and they're capable of doing a thing where they can use all the knowledge and experience of every single Avatar before them. They're the same soul, for sure, but they're also born into different times and situations!

You seem to be very well versed in this lore, but I assume that comes from how close you are to them.

It's very fascinating.

That an' it's kinda important at home. I'm pretty sure everyone knows the basics about the Avatar! It's the sort of thing you learn growing up.

I think every world probably has things like that, though. Things that're important to your world but probably not others!

That does make sense if they're important figureheads. And you're correct. It would be a strange world that didn't.

They definitely are! Everyone knows who the Avatar is, even if they don't know the Avatar personally.

Thank you! I like learnin' about stuff, although I like it better when I'm talking to people instead of reading, 'cause some of our scrolls are pretty boring.

Perhaps when you're older and have some free time you can work on those scrolls.

I wouldn't recommend it unless it was a copy and not the original.

I wouldn't ever touch the originals! Jinora'd be furious. And daddy, too.

Then perhaps making an illustrated version wouldn't be out of the question. It could help with learning, after all.

I definitely think so, too! A lot of the scrolls about bending, though, those ones have pictures of the forms.
