[Itachi focuses the view on himself, sitting in the living room of the house he shares with Law. As usual, he's in a plain blue silk shirt with his black clothes beneath. At his feet, a gray cat rubs against the leg of his chair.]

It has come to my attention that several others from the world I originate from have arrived in Luceti. To them, if they are aware of who I am, I simply state my presence and assure that there is no need to consider me an adversary at this point in time. This is in the hopes of avoiding any unfortunate altercations in the future should we happen to run across each other.

[Things are chaotic enough as is.]

I am under close scrutiny [This is mostly true to a point.] and have been here for some time, so there is no cause for alarm.

[Well, it's not quite the impression Jiraiya had gathered from their one encounter, but good to know that Itachi seems to see things that way. He's been wrong on impressions before.]

So would I be right in thinking you don't see much purpose to pursuing your organization's goals here?

I believe you could consider our working relationship no longer necessary, yes.

[Not that he's going to just accept that at full face value, you realize. Nothing personal, Itachi. But it's still good to hear, nonetheless.

Though he notices those weasel words. You could consider and no longer necessary aren't the same as I consider and over and done. Still, he'll take it.]

There have been a fair amount of those from our world arriving lately. Or perhaps just more than usual.

Heh. So the world has a fondness for ninja. I suppose we're an entertaining lot.

[Chatting with an enemy of the village. Who'd have thought.

But Jiraiya really has never been much for coldness. As long as Itachi remains civil and unthreatening...]

Few other worlds have such a representation.

[Which also means they could be getting more Akatsuki than just Itachi and Konan.]

Guess we should feel lucky, to have so many companions about. [Oh wait, Itachi's got his boss's girlfriend and the little brother who vowed to kill him. Sorry, dude.]

Of course, 'should' rarely means 'will.'

There have not been too many conflicts between us so far. [Even when "Madara" had been there.]

Hopefully this will remain the case.

There's nothing like an external enemy to unite former foes.

[It's said lightly, almost facetiously; Jiraiya hardly considers them united. But it's recognition of a truce state.]

Our community would not benefit from internal strife.

I'm not sure any community does.

[Which is true enough. Itachi could be talking about the sub-community of ninja within Luceti, or all of the village, and it would be just as true either way. If they stay united, things would be better.]
