NAME: Itachi Uchiha
CANON: Naruto
CANON POINT: The release of the Edo Tensei, post death.
AGE: 21
BACKGROUND: Narutopedia page (warning for video and ads)
PERSONALITY: Itachi is motivated by the need to protect his brother as well as his village. His whole persona was formed at a young age from the desire to bring as much peace to his village and the world as he could. Unfortunately he had to give up everything to see even a little of that happen, but the fact that he was willing to give it up shows how dedicated he is to that cause. He makes all his decisions with the bigger picture in mind, with most of his few selfish actions being in regards to his brother. The thought that his entire world might have been destroyed in the end will be a devastating blow to him, and his new focus will be to bring it and everyone he can from it back.
It's said in the manga that, having seen a great many atrocities at the end of the second ninja war, Itachi had the wisdom of a Hokage (the leaders of their village) by the age of seven. While this may be a bit of a stretch, it's true that he's always been mature beyond his years, as seen by how quickly he progressed through the ranks. He was aware of the dark nature inherent in his clan and the eye techniques they inherited and actually feared for the safety of the whole village because of this. He was more capable of seeing the bigger picture. He studied history, gaining knowledge on the past in order to better see where things were headed - and he feared for the future.
It was because of this that he ended up getting drawn into the situation that he did. In the end, he chose the safety of the entire village over that of his clan, and thus was instrumental in the latter's demise. Such unrest within Konoha, which was the ninja headquarters of one of the largest and most powerful of the five great nations, would make it appear vulnerable. Their village had been the first to form, two warring clans settling their differences and setting a peaceful precedent for others to follow. If that peace was lost, Itachi new it could be the start of another large scale war. He loved his family and his clan, but he couldn't let their coup d'etat end up costing thousands of lives.
He loves his brother more than anything, which is why his condition for murdering his own kin was that Sasuke alone got to live. He thought that by filling his brother with hatred for him that he could become the villain and their family's name wouldn't be tarnished in his eyes. Once Sasuke completed his revenge, he would return to the village and start the clan anew.
This isn't how it happened, of course, as his brother's hatred was easily manipulated so that he followed a darker path, deciding to destroy the village instead. Though Itachi's words to him after his resurrection have him at an impasse (so not all hope is lost there) Itachi counts this whole matter as a failure and leaves the task of saving his brother to Naruto, who he thinks is more capable.
His problem, as he later admits, is that he took everything into his own hands and didn't trust others to help him see it through. He took every precaution imaginable, but in the end his method was based around shallow lies that were easily later uncovered and he had no one to back him up should something go wrong. He blames this decision on arrogance, and the belief that he was strong enough to handle anything. He'd tried to manipulate his brother rather than be open with him. Before he dies a second time, he tells his brother that if he'd shared his burdens with him then perhaps Sasuke would have been able to convince their parents not to go through with the coup.
Itachi warns Naruto, when it appears as though the boy is trying to take everything on his own shoulders as well, that this path will only lead to failure, and that he should rely on those who believe in him to help as well. Then he runs off to try and do things on his own again.
Throughout the series, we see Itachi as a soft-spoken but cold individual. He easily overpowers Naruto, Sasuke, and the others in early encounters, and yet in the end has an odd way of leaving them alive despite the fact that he could have killed them easily if necessary. This was mostly so that he could continue to foster hatred in his brother, but also served as a method of testing out the strengths of his friends just in case. The possibility that things would not go as he'd planned wasn't lost on him, which is why he would later leave a genjutsu in Naruto that was meant to stop his brother from attacking the village as a last resort. (Though this would then be used to stop him instead, which was probably for the best as this way Sasuke can make the decision not to attack the Leaf Village on his own, rather than being ordered to through genjutsu.)
Planning for his death at the hands of his brother is what allowed Itachi to live with the guilt of what he'd done to his family. Sasuke would bring him to justice. He hardened his heart, lied, and said and did whatever he needed to in order to foster that hatred in him. (And it could be said that some of his own self-loathing was twisted around and forced upon his sibling in that effort.)
Once he's free to be himself at the end, without having to hide behind some dark persona, we get a real glimpse of his true nature. Itachi is kind-hearted but extremely focused. He's confident but careful. And, perhaps surprisingly, he has a rather dry sense of humor that makes appearances at interesting times. He likes sweets and other simple pleasures, hallmarks of a man of peace.
POWERS/ABILITIES: As a ninja trained at the academy, Itachi knows all the basics of chakra usage, such as being able to use it to stick to surfaces one otherwise wouldn't be able to, making clones of oneself, and using substitution techniques (switching one item's position with another). The three main types of techniques are taijutsu, which is physical combat, ninjutsu, which covers the majority of chakra-based techniques, and genjutsu, which are illunsionary skills. Itachi is skilled in all of these, but due to the weaker constitution he now has as a result of his illness he tends to stick to the latter two, genjutsu especially. Though we only see him use fire and water for the most part, according to the data book he also has affinities for wind as well as both yin and yang techniques.
Specific skills that he can use are as follows:
Usually he can also summon crows to come to his aid, but this requires a contract with animals from his own world and would not be usable in this setting.
A closer look at the sharingan: The eye technique passed down through generations of the Uchiha clan is tied strongly to their emotions. The eyes turn red when it's used, with a fully developed sharingan having three tomoe in the iris. At this level, the user can see attacks at the speed in which they happen, lacking the slight delay it takes for most to process what they see. This allows them to look as though they're anticipating their opponent's moves or even reading their mind. They can also easily copy other techniques.
The Mangekyou Sharingan can only be activated when the user witnesses the death of the one closest to them. Itachi gains his with Shisui's death, while Sasuke gains his after Itachi's death - but only also after he learns the truth about him. The Mangekyou allows more powerful techniques to be performed and even created by the user. It allows for the bending of time and space. However all these techniques come at the price of slowly worsening the user's vision. Every use of a powerful technique causes more damage. The only way to solve this is to obtain the Eternal Mangekyou by taking the eyes of a close family member. With their eyes replacing the user's original ones, their vision will never deteriorate. Each sharingan user has their own unique Mangekyou pattern.
Without his Sharingan activated, Itachi is legally blind, vision still technically there but extremely darkened and clouded.
POWER NERFS: I am more than happy to limit this ninja's overpowered abilities, and thankfully the setting provides an easy solution on its own. The ninjas in Naruto require chakra to perform all their techniques, which is the energy they can pull from within themselves and sometimes from nature. In Prismatica it would be necessary to utilize Chroma instead, thereby causing most skills to be far more draining than they normally would be and much more thought would have to be put into using them. The stronger of his techniques will be basically unusable except perhaps under special circumstances (potential events or whatnot).
INVENTORY: Aside from his clothing and jewelry (none of which is weaponized) he'd only have a pouch full of small weapons such as shuriken and kunai. (Ninja throwing stars and daggers.) I don't know if anything would count as a "set" but he'd have very little left after his fight with Sasuke and he wouldn't be able to use anything like summoning scrolls to get more anyway since those items would no longer be in the same world with him. So I'll just say three kunai. It won't be a problem for him to get something else to throw if he needs it.
MOONBLESSING: Cordis.
