September 22nd - closed to Law

[Itachi leaves his bedroom as usual, but exits it at death's door.

The time shift, catching him moments before he would conclude a fight with his brother, moments before the time he was brought from into Luceti in the first place, dumps a bleeding, wreck of a man out the other side of the doorway. The ninja staggers, a bloody arm that had been held out in front of him catching onto the opposite wall of the hallway.

So ready. He'd been so ready. What's going on? Literal moments away from dying, prepared to give into the inevitable, Itachi now finds himself having to do his damnedest to keep himself breathing. The orange glow of Susano'o at first barely surrounding him as he arrived, fades away into nothing as he fights against the darkness at the edge of his vision.

Where is Sasuke?

Coughing, his free hand covering his mouth as blood ran through his fingers, the man leaned further against the wall, the last of his adrenaline leaving him.]

September 23rd - OTA

[Late in the day, after a fair amount of rest, Itachi finds his journal and spends a while reading through it. The other entries become too confusing after a while, but he at last tries to make one of his own. After all, it does seem to be a form of communication.]

I'm looking for Uchiha Sasuke.

September 24th - OTA

[After a failed attempt at trying to get up and make his own breakfast, the ninja will eventually escape the house by way of a substitution technique and wander the town. The clothing is slightly ill-fitting, as the Itachi that's been living in Luceti for the past four years is a fair bit healthier than the one walking slowly through it now.

Don't worry. The cough isn't contagious.

He can be found in basically any building around the town center, and eventually sitting wearily at the fountain.]

September 25th

[Officially banned to the house, but still this older self until he wakes up the morning of the 26th.]

That happens sometimes. People leave, and they don't always remember if they come back.

[Said with an air of "that's okay". Adults always seem to have problems with this. Shikamaru supposes it's only fair when you don't remember how often it happens.]

[Another cough, just the one this time.] Do they usually leave all traces of their life here when they leave?

[There's a closet full of his clothing.]

[He wonders if he should say something about that... Should he be talking if he's sick?]

No. Their stuff disappears the same time they do, usually. That's how people tell they're gone.

[A glance in the direction of that closet.]

That isn't the case here.

It's not? [That's weird. --oh, but wait, no it isn't. He remembers his own circumstances very suddenly, and things click into place.] Then it's gotta be an experiment.

[He frowns to himself.]

[Oh good. That means someone else is already on the situation.]

Yeah, they happen sometimes. There's a big one going on right now, so it's not only you that's hit.

[Shikamaru wants to tell them they're friends (or more), but he doesn't know. This universe is weird, and Itachi already said it's complicated, so maybe he shouldn't.]

Just pretend they're another you's things, if that's too much at once.

Really? [It makes sense to him - it's what he's been doing since he got here.] I guess it's true some adults lose their imaginations when they get older.

[Itachi makes a small, surprised, almost indignant noise at that - that quickly becomes another bout of coughing that he's quick to get under control.]

It's not that... I'm not sure which I'd dislike more.

Well... I dunno how to help you with that. But if you're sick, shouldn't you be resting?

[He's been, by his own standards, politely ignoring the earlier coughs, but they continue to sound uglier the more he hears them.]

... Yes. [He clears his throat.] Yes, I should be.

I won't bother you anymore then, so you can get back to that.

Since Law's there, just do what he says. He gets grumpy when you don't listen. But he's a good doctor, so you'll feel better soon.
